The Ibanez GRG7221M makes extended-range playing accessible with a comfortable design, powerful humbucker tones, and the extra low-end range of a seven-string guitar. Built for players looking to expand their sound, this GIO series model is well suited to modern rock, metal, progressive styles, and heavier rhythm playing. Its poplar body and maple neck provide a solid foundation, while dual Infinity R humbuckers deliver everything from clear, articulate tones to thick, high-gain sounds.
A fast-playing maple neck, 24 jumbo frets, and a flat 15.75-inch fingerboard radius provide plenty of room for technical riffs, complex chord shapes, and expressive solos. The fixed bridge adds tuning stability and dependable performance, making the GRG7221M a practical choice for players exploring lower tunings and extended-range techniques without stretching their budget.
Infinity R Humbuckers for Powerful Seven-String Tone
The Ibanez GRG7221M features a pair of Infinity R humbucking pickups designed to deliver a punchy, versatile sound across the guitar’s extended range. The additional seventh string provides deeper low-end possibilities, making this guitar especially useful for heavy riffs, modern metal, and low-register chord work.
Fast Maple Neck and 24 Jumbo Frets
The GRG7221M features a maple neck designed to provide a comfortable, responsive feel for extended-range playing. Its smooth playing surface supports quick position changes, making it easier to navigate demanding riffs, fast lead passages, and intricate musical arrangements.
The maple fingerboard features a flat 15.75-inch radius, providing a broad, even playing surface that works particularly well for technical playing and low-string riffing. With 24 jumbo frets, players have access to a full two-octave range on each string, allowing plenty of room for solos, bends, and higher-register melodies.
Fixed Bridge for Reliable Tuning Stability
A fixed bridge provides a solid foundation for the GRG7221M’s seven strings, supporting consistent tuning and dependable performance during demanding playing sessions. Its straightforward design is particularly useful for players working with lower tunings, palm-muted riffs, and aggressive picking techniques.
Without a tremolo system to manage, the fixed bridge keeps the setup simple and allows players to focus on their playing. This makes it a convenient choice for rehearsals, recording sessions, and live performances where consistent tuning is essential.
Ergonomic Poplar Body for Extended Playing Sessions
The GRG7221M’s poplar body combines a balanced tonal response with a comfortable shape designed for regular use. Its contoured design helps the guitar sit naturally against the body, whether you’re practicing seated or performing while standing.
Despite the added string and wider fingerboard of a seven-string instrument, the guitar is designed to remain approachable for players making the transition from a standard six-string. The body shape supports comfortable positioning while providing the solid foundation needed for powerful rhythm playing and expressive lead work.
An Affordable Seven-String Built for Modern Players
The Ibanez GRG7221M brings extended-range versatility within reach of players looking to explore new musical possibilities. Its dual Infinity R humbuckers deliver powerful tones, the maple neck and 24 jumbo frets support technical playability, and the fixed bridge provides dependable tuning stability.
